Kesha Makes a Comeback .

Kesha is finally back. After a grueling three year halt on her music career, Kesha released her collaboration with EDM artist Zedd on April 26th, titled "True Colors." The song, which Zedd already released on his own back in 2015, was released under record label RCA.

The pair debuted the song last month at Coachella, where Kesha was a surprise guest during Zedd's set. The song contains lyrics, "I won't apologize/For the fire in my eyes/Let me show you my/My true colors." These lyrics speak a thousand words to anyone who knows about the singer's recent emotional battle in court. This song is pretty much the anthem for anyone who supports the #FreeKesha movement.

In 2014, Kesha filed charges against producer Dr. Luke, who she accused of raping her at the age of 18 and other charges, including verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. In February 2016, the court case went in Luke's favor, with the judge refusing to release her from the contract she has with him and denying her with the possibility to work with any artists that weren't under that label.

Zedd showed support for Kesha soon after a judge denied the singer's injunction against Dr. Luke. "Very very sorry to hear about your whole situation," he tweeted the singer. "I'll be happy to produce a song for you if you want my help."

For Kesha, "True Colors" is more than just a song; It's her way of saying, "I'm still here and I'm not backing down." Thanks to the help of a generous soul like Zedd, Kesha is not only back on the iTunes chart, but also in the Top 10, with "True Colors" ranked Number 8. 

When she received news of the song's instant success, Kesha took to Instagram to thank everyone who supported her unconditionally during her struggle. "YOU have been there for me through a time I thought, at many different times, I couldn't live through," she wrote. "I couldn't fathom being on the other side. and here we are. thanks to YOU."

     With a mellow synth keyboard at his side and a trademark gap-tooth smile, Mac DeMarco appeals to an intergenerational crowd.
     According to undertheradar.com, his latest album Another One was a record that he described as his recovery from the "party tour style," so he could be back to making music again. In order to make this album, he spent a month in his room in total solitude. In doing this, he came up with the idea of providing his address in a song to connect with fans. He forgot that hundreds if not thousands of fans would listen, at one point he recalled having 50 fans visit him and his band a day.
      It's hard to believe, but he wasn't always at the peak of indie-rock stardom. Right out of high school, he took on the strenuous profession of roadwork but eventually called it quits. He realized he needed to have muscle to continue on with this kind of labor. In moving to Montreal, his stint as a labor worker would soon be replaced with a devotion to art and music.
      Fans rejoice, as he is on tour for his latest album. His next concert in New York is on May 15, 2016, and will be at Webster Hall.

Blink-182 to Have New Music?

  After the departure of Tom DeLonge from Blink 182 last year, fans were unsure of whether or not the band would release new music as they've been teasing the past few years.  Even though DeLonge left the band to pursue a solo career, the band is working on putting together an album and are currently working with Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio.  Drummer, Travis Barker has had clips of him drumming for new songs spread across the internet, exciting fans to no end.
  Even more exciting is the fact that the first single from this new album is to come out in April with the album following later this year.  Fans have been teased for years with the thought of new music and the fact that there's proof of it really coming is something that makes me and every other fan of Blink really happy.

The Strokes

         The Strokes are headlining the 2016 Governors Ball Music Festival which takes place Friday, June 3 at New York City's Randall's Island Park. Dedicated fans everywhere are frantically typing in their credit card numbers so they can guarantee a spot in the vicinity of the punk rock veterans — Julian Casablancas with lead vocals, Albert Hammond and Nick Valensi on guitar, and finally Fabrizio Moretti on drums.
         This is a band whose albums are a necessity for every high schooler, who hates doing their homework but still needs to do it. Their music will emulate what you feel but can't quite express at the moment, willful rebelliousness.
         In 1999, they made their live debut at the Spiral. By word of mouth, they rose to punk stardom, they were booked at venues like Under the Acme and Lower East Side Clubs like Baby Jupiter, and Arlene. It was their album The Modern Age that won them a following so loyal, that fans would trample each other to get as close to the band as possible.
         In 2014, they made a comeback after three years of not playing at Governor's Ball. In those three years, Julian Casablancas worked on music with his other band Julian Casablancas and the Voids on his own label Cult Records. Fortunately, The Strokes are currently working on new music together and plan on playing them together in June.
          This is not an event to miss as there will be lawn games to play, restaurants for dining, sloppy foods to devour, and art installations to marvel at!

Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman

     With effortless vocal leaps and sultry guitar riffs, Ariana Grande shows a more mature side of herself in "Dangerous Woman." This song has more of a slow R&B vibe and with lyrics including, 'All that you got, skin to skin, oh my God Don't ya stop, boy,' that definitely shift Grande away from her usual good girl aesthetic.

       The 22-year old made the decision to ditch her signature cat ears for a latex half-dominatrix/half-playboy bunny mask, as shown above in her album cover for Dangerous Woman. The new album is set to be released on April 20th

     During an interview on On Air With Ryan Seacrest, she said, "[Dangerous Woman] is a little darker and sexier and more mature… I've come into my own a little bit since my last album was released."

       I've been waiting for an album like Dangerous Woman from Ariana Grande for a while now. With the vocal range she has, she has the potential to create very powerful music, as she has already proved with songs like "My Everything" and "Tattooed Heart." I'm really happy to see her finally become comfortable enough with opening herself up to singing more personal and mature songs. Or at least I hope she's comfortable with this, considering the fact that so many artists have been cornered by their record labels into doing things they didn't really want to do.
